sunday at seward cafe

April 18, 2010

Ahhh Seward Cafe. It’s been too long!

If you’re ever in Minneapolis and looking for a rocking vegan/vegetarian spot, this awesome place is on Franklin and 22nd.

It’s collectively owned and run, and maintains a food policy that supports independent, local, organic, and sustainable products.

That makes my heart happy; I like to eat locally and organically whenever I have the option. Sometimes it takes an effort to make that choice but it’s worth it to me.

On a day like today, it is no effort whatsoever to jump on my bike and ride the 6 minutes over to seward.

Oh, hello Spring! Nice to see you.

Seward Cafe offers vegan and vegetarian breakfasts and lunches, using local and organic ingredients. If they needed to earn some extra brownie points then they might tell you that during the growing season, they incorporate produce from their Common Harvest CSA share into the menu items and lunch specials.

I had the Green Earth: organic seven-grain toast, (with your choice of soy margarine, butter, or tahini) hash browns and organic eggs scrambled together and topped with steamed broccoli.

It was super rad.

My beau had the Lake Street Omelette (onions, black or pinto beans, spicy cheddar & rancheros sauce). Also super rad.

After some coffee and crosswording, we got this giant cherry scone piece of love and then called it quits and rode our bikes home in the sun.

Happy Sunday!
